The ostrich, the world’s largest bird, can often be seen in Nairobi National Park and Amboseli’s grasslands, while the Kori bustard, Africa’s heaviest flying bird, roams the open savannas. Another unique avian experience is the breathtaking spectacle of thousands of pink flamingos flocking to the soda lakes of the Rift Valley—such as Lake Nakuru, Bogoria, and Elementaita—which creates a sea of pink that mesmerises visitors.

And because of these diverse species and expansive range, the conversation efforts are underwhelmingly not enough. Thankfully, ongoing conservation efforts aim to protect Kenya’s bird habitats, ensuring future generations can enjoy this biodiversity.
